Instapoetry

The internet is a vibrant place,
full of shoutouts and podcasts,
memes, videos on Tiktok:
8 seconds or so to broadcast
life's mediocrities;
reels and instastories
filtered with audacity:
flashy backgrounds—all glitter—
then seal it with a sticker
and post it on Twitter
(#makemerichquicker),
not Tumblr or Flickr:
asunder and hollow,
soon to be unfollowed,
to vanish without trace
(see Vine and MySpace);
the work created,
energy wasted;
cells, disin—
tegrated
to ashes
and dust,
much like
the rest
of
us.
