We'll be opening presents on Christmas day,
eating mince pies and attempting to play
with the picky scraps of wrapping paper;
Mum's the director on our seaside caper,
trudging in seaweed on a yuletide walk,
as saltwater carpentry lines the cliffs of chalk.
We'll stay outboard, enjoy the winter air;
keep off-grid—pretend we could be anywhere.
